Leonique is a Dutch saxophonist, born in The Hague and based in Soest, The Netherlands. Music has played an important role in her life from an early age, with the saxophone quickly becoming her primary focus. What started as an interest developed into a lasting passion for sound, expression and improvisation.
After completing a degree in Biology, she decided to pursue music professionally and studied Jazz & Pop Music at the Schumann Academy, complemented by lessons at the Utrecht Conservatory. Combined with more than 15 years of live performance experience, this background forms the foundation of her musical versatility and ability to adapt effortlessly to a wide range of settings.
Over the years, Leonique has performed at numerous weddings, corporate events, clubs and festivals both in The Netherlands and internationally. She regularly collaborates with DJs and producers, performing and improvising live within a variety of electronic music styles. Her playing is characterized by a warm, soulful sound and the ability to subtly guide audiences through the atmosphere of the moment.
In addition to her work within DJ & sax performances, she also performs in smaller ensembles and musical projects, drawing inspiration from soul, jazz, funk and R&B.
